My employers announced redundancies and used a point scoring basis to assess who should go. They will not tell us how our scores were calculated, can they do this?

My employers announced they were going to be making redundancies and gave everyone in the organisation thirty days redundancy notice. They said they would then use a point scoring basis to assess who should go - those with the lowest points/those who don't meet the required points would be made redundant. Redundancies have now been made, but they will not tell us how our scores have been calculated or how the scores compare with those that are staying but do the same job. Can they do this?

If there was any consultation with the employer over the redundancies the scoring mechanism should have been discussed, if not agreed, by employee representatives, and they are another group of people that you could ask.

For those made redundant they should request to see their assessment scores as it could be the basis of any appeal.
