Injured through a slip resulting from poor cleaning...

I was injured at my work place as a result of another employee not sweeping a set of stairs properly, and as a result I slipped and injured by back. Concerns over areas not being properly cleaned has been raised with the management on several occasions. Can I claim damages for pain that I have suffered from this?

Your employer has a clear duty of care to maintain a safe workplace and not cleaning areas properly resulting in a fall will almost certainly lead to a valid claim for compensation against them.

Some employees fear bringing a case against their employer but your employment is protected in such circumstances and the claim in any event is likely to be settled by your employer's insurer.
