I have a company car which I pay tax on for my own use out of company hours. The company now want to fit a tracker system to the vehicle which will allow them to monitor my movements during evenings, weekends and holiday periods. Surely them having the facility to track my movements in my free time is against my human rights? Is this correct? May I add, I do not have a problem with being tracked during the working day.
Your employer must be able to deactivate the tracker or delete private movements from your system. Your employer must act reasonably in this regard and a blanket refusal to co-operate could be considered a breach of contract. You should raise a grievance and demand that your employer adopts reasonable policies.
