Can my employer demote me from my supervisor position and cut my pay without reason or warning?

I have been a supervisor with my firm for the last four years but suddenly without reason or warning, my boss wants to take away my supervisory pay. Can he do this to me?

If your employer wishes to demote you from your supervisory position and in addition, reduces your salary, this would amount to a fundamental breach of your employment contract.

You would be entitled to bring a claim to an Employment Tribunal for having been constructively, unfairly dismissed by reason of your employer's conduct.

There may be other matters to take into account, however, we are not aware of these.

It is suggested you write a letter of grievance to your employer and also ask him to provide you with written reasons for taking this action. If you need assistance with this, please contact us.
