Are my mother's employers legally obliged to reduce her hours if she so requests?
My mother is 58 and works full time in a factory. She has worked for the same company for 33 years and the company only employs full time employees. Now I don't know how true this is but I have been told that legally the company has a duty to reduce my mother's hours if she requests it (as she is now finding full time hard to do). Can you give me any advice on this?
There is a legal right to request flexible working in circumstances like this, she should write to her HR department to request details.
